The Book Thief is a young girl by the name of Liesel and the first book she ever stole was at the conclusion of her younger brother’s funeral. It was an impulsive move, a token to remember her brother by, but it soon became much more. Arriving in the town of Munich, Liesel meets her foster parents Hans and Rosa Hubermann.
The Hiding Place describes to the reader a mysterious history involving a woman whose younger brother was murdered. Janet Manning grew up in Dove Point, a small town in Ohio, and she carries around the memories surrounding her brother’s disappearance and death.
I chose this book because of the wonderful book cover and title. Then after reading the synopsis, I thought it would be a book I’d enjoy since it combined both the past and present stories of the two main characters which seemed like a promising mixture.
Escape is about a mother who has a secret she doesn’t want her daughter to discover. The daughter’s name is Bambi, and she learns at a young age to follow her mother’s directions only with obedience and to never ask questions.
The Memory Keeper’s Daughter is a book many will enjoy. Author Kim Edwards created a wonderful story full of passionate characters that will draw you into their world.
