I’ve written a several posts about PaperBack Swap and I have another one I want to share with you today. My sister gifted me 20 PB (PaperBack) Swap credits and so I had a lot of fun looking for books to buy. Since I don’t read a lot of books in a year, I have opted for the free membership with PB Swap. There are 3 different tiers, two of which cost money, but due to my limited reading time, I don’t feel paying for the membership is beneficial to me, so the books I picked out during this haul cost me 0.49 cents each, plus one credit – I don’t think that’s a bad deal at all! 😉
Thank you Cynthia for gifting me so many credits! Having so many not only allows me to do a few PB Swap Book Hauls (like the one below), but it also means I get more books! Yay!
For this haul I found four books that I wanted and felt were worth my credit and 0.49 cents. The first book I purchased was The Traitor’s Wife by Allison Pataki. This is a book I have had my eye on for a while and was happy to see it was available through PB Swap. The Traitor’s Wife is about Benedict Arnold’s wife and the influence she had on him to betray America. It’s a historical fiction book and I can’t wait to read this one.
The second book I got was Every Living Thing by James Herriot. This one was a sentimental buy because it reminded me of my Mom. When I was growing up, she had James Herriot’s The Lord God Made Them All collection. The cover looks familiar to me, so I think I got the same edition that my Mom had. This book is filled with stories about James Herriot’s veterinarian experiences and he shares, through these stories, the lessons and life values he learned from each animal encounter. I’m so happy to add this book to my collection. Eventually I want to get them all.
The third book I picked was The Snow Spider by Jenny Nimmo. This book was recommended to me by a friend who had listened to the book on CD. She enjoyed the story and thought I might as well. So upon searching for books, this one came to mind and I found it on PB Swap. The Snow Spider is a children’s book about a boy who receives 5 gifts from his Grandmother on his nineth birthday. These are no ordinary gifts and each one contains some kind of magic. That’s about all I know about this book, but it sounds interesting and I can’t wait to read it.
The last book I received was The Devil in Vienna by Doris Orgel. This one I found while browsing the PB Swap website. After reading the synopsis, it sounded like a book I’d enjoy. It’s about two girls who are the best of friends and they even share the same birthday. The problem? One is a Jew and the other is the daughter of a Nazi officer. Of course their parents don’t want them hanging out anymore, but will these two girls find a way to keep their friendship alive? I’m hoping so, and will find out when I read the book.
So…that’s all the books I selected during this shopping spree! I am very happy with all of them and can’t wait to read them; however, I still have A LOT of books on my TBR pile, so truthfully, I’m not sure when I’ll get to these books. Hopefully 2018 will be a year full of reading (crossing my fingers).
