Review: Adored 365 Devotional for Young Women

I have to apologize that my review of Adored 365 Devotions for Young Women is a bit late.  The month of November has been busy with work trips, decorating, and family visits…but I am excited to share with you the review of this wonderful book.

Isn’t this cover SO pretty! I absolutely love it! It makes you want to pick up the book and read it.

It’s always a fun experience when you get to review a book for the publisher.  And receiving this book was a double blessing since I was able to do devotions on a daily basis.  What I liked about Adored 365 Devotions for Young Women was that the devotions were not overpowering.  They were simple, thought-provoking one page blurbs about a verse that you could think upon throughout the day.  I liked this because if you are not a morning person (I sooo need coffee in the morning!), then these devotionals are the perfect introduction to doing a brief reflection on God’s word.  Simple enough to read first thing in the morning, but the content was also good enough to get you thinking for the day.

If you are looking for an in-depth study devotion, then you might not like this devotional because I think this is more geared toward those individuals who would like to read the Bible but might be short on time.  I liked the verses shared in the devotional and I think this is a great book to carry with you – the size is just right to fit into a purse or backpack.  Or, place it next to your nightstand and reach for it when you wake up as a reminder of who you are in Christ. Since the devotionals are very upbeat and positive, I think it’s a great way to begin your day…even when you aren’t a morning person and would rather sleep those 10 extra minutes. 😉 However, I have to admit, due to the length of the devotions I sometimes read more than one per day.

Another great feature to this devotional is that the 365 devotions are not dated.  So you can pick this devotion up any time of the year and read through it.  There are three ways you can begin your journey.

  1. Start the devotion on January 1st Day 1 or
  2. Start the devotion on the day you get it with Day 1 or
  3. Start your devotion on the day you buy it but start on the day of the year it is (example, you buy it 11/21 then begin on Day 322 and read from there).

Each Day includes a verse, a devotion, and a few lines for you to scribble some notes or thoughts down although the space provided is limited to 3-4 lines (or less depending on the length of the devotion).  The only drawback to this format is the note section.  All devotions receive 3 or 4 lines to write notes and even though the devotion may be shorter and more lines could be added, they aren’t.  It would have been nice to have more lines if the space allowed for it.  (Does that make sense? LOL)

Overall I really adored this devotional and I’m sure I am going to continue to devote my mornings to reading it.  It’s a great companion to the Bible and I think it’s a great way to start your day and get into the habit of reading the Bible or doing a daily Bible Study.

I would recommend this devotional to any woman who is interested in reflecting on scripture.  It’s great for that busy mom or the working woman or anyone wants to do a devotional but feels the time they have available is limited.  Life can get crazy, right?  But we shouldn’t sacrifice our spiritual well-being and I think that this devotional will help you remain in God’s word while going through your busy day, week, month, year, or season!

If you are interested in trying the devotional out before making the purchase, you can click on this link: https://info.zondervan.com/adored-devotional/  There’s a week’s worth of devotionals you can read to see if this is something you are interested in.  I know once you begin to do these, you will want to continue for the next 365 days!
