So…I was tagged by a fellow BookTuber, Edshara from Shara Me With Books, to do the BookTube Newbie Tag 2.o and I thought it would be a fun video to film. But before recording the video, I felt I should write some answers down so that I would have something to fall back on in case I lost my train of thought(s) while recording this tag. Below are the original answers that came to mind when answering the questions…however, when recording, some of my answers changed a little.
Now you can either read my answers below or take a peek at the video I made. Let me know what you think and hey, if have a blog or YouTube channel…well, consider yourself tagged! 😉
1). What genres would you like to see talked about more on BookTube?
Books I like to read that I would like to see more of on BookTube – Mythology! Ancient Civilizations! Historical Fiction!
2). What do you feel is the best way(s) to make friends on BookTube?
I have NO idea, LOL. I only have 13 subscribers so I don’t think I’m the best person to give advice on this. However, I think the more you invest your time in others, the more they’ll respond to you. I’m not the best at this, but I’m trying because there are a lot of wonderful and friendly YouTubers that I would love to call friends.
3). What will/ do you enjoy the most about making BookTube videos?
Hmmm, well, I like sharing my love of books with others. It’s fun to share what books I like and which books I’m reading and then to see if others enjoy them too.
4). What will/do you least look forward to when making BookTube videos?
Honestly…finding the time to film. Just like everyone else, I’m super, super busy!! So finding time to video is such a challenge. And with that being said, I have like 4 or 5 videos I’ve been wanting to do but I haven’t gotten to them…because another thing I least look forward to is getting ready to video. I’m not much for wearing make-up or doing my hair and I feel I need to do that sort of stuff to record. You know, I don’t want to scare my potential subscribers away!! LOL
5). What videos other than tags, TBR’s, wrap-ups, reviews and recommendations would you want to see more of?
Maybe read-alongs? I really don’t know. I like to watch Book Hauls because I find a lot of interesting books from watching what others buy (although it also makes my wish list extra loooong).
6). What are some themes you want to see more of or less of in books?
That’s a hard question. I don’t even know how to answer this because so far I’m not bored or tired of reading the stories I’ve picked up (if that makes sense). Can I steal Edshara’s answer to this one?? 😉
7). What are some of your BookTube goals?
Well, I actually created my channel to complement my book blog (URL below). When writing about my book hauls, I thought it might be easier (yeah, right!) to post a video showing the books and so I created my channel. That’s why my first few videos were book hauls. My passion is writing and I think I do a better job of that then filming these videos.
8).What advice would you give to a BookTuber that has just created their channel?
Have fun! If you’re not having fun or if you’re stressing about it, then don’t do it. Just have fun and be yourself and post what you want to post. You’ll find the right audience if you are true to yourself!
9). What are some qualities or traits that you look for when it comes to watching other BookTubers?
I look for someone who has the same book interests as me. I’ve stumbled across a few Christian book readers which I’m happy about and gladly follow their channels. I like to watch people whose passion for reading comes through on the video – true passion, not the fake hyped up version that you can tell is a show (although sometimes they are fun to watch as well). Side note: I’m only that happy/hyped when I have coffee in me!
10). What is a fun fact about you or a hobby besides reading and writing that people on BookTube might not know you have?
Uh, nothing. I’m pretty boring. Seriously…I cannot think of anything that might surprise you. Look at my bio page on YouTube – that has all my “interesting” facts that aren’t really that interesting. LOL
11). Which BookTubers do you tag?
I’m gonna tag my sister. Haha! She was the one who actually inspired me to begin my channel because I began watching her Thinking Tree videos and I thought “Hey, I can do that!” which I found out is harder to do than it looks. So Linda from Homeschooling6.com consider yourself tagged!!
